Greetings. As 2018 comes to a close, while looking ahead to the promise of a new one, there is so much to reflect on and to be excited about for us at REEDS.
 

Looking back at 2018 and all the highlights that have marked our year, the first noticeable highlight is that REEDS, has made an imprint for having been a part of the process of verification of Open Defection Free [ODF] status in the country’s, perhaps in the world, biggest ever cleanliness drive – Swachh Bharat. We take pride for having verified 3000 + villages spread across 5 states in the country under the Swachh Bharat Mission during the year and that REEDS is considered important by more and more sanitation actors.

The second highlight has been the presenting very successful edition of our Life Skills and Livelihood Skills International (LSLSI) Conference series - an international symposium: ‘Anchoring innovation in handloom weaving in India’, probably first and largest of its kind, debating the ways and means to make the futures and livelihoods of 4.3 million families who depend for their subsistence on weaving meaningful.

There were disappointments too - we are yet to achieve our intended accomplishments to support rural communities improve their life. However, at REEDS we are always encouraged by our aspirations for the future. We are excited about 2019 and coming years; and con¬fident that we can achieve the change we want to see – ‘an empowered rural India’ with all the continuing and encouraging support.
